Feather, a Berlin-based insurance provider for expats, has raised €6 million in funding. After being bootstrapped for two years, the company took its first funding in 2021. With this latest fundraise, Feather has accumulated a total of €10 million in funding.

The round was led by Keen Venture Partners with Plural and senior leaders from Allianz, AXA, and Bastian. These investors join Feather’s cap table alongside Monzo founder Tom Blomfield, GoCardless and Nested’s Matt Robinson, N26’s CTO Gino Cordt, and Oyster founder Tony Jamous.

The funding will help Feather accelerate its expansion into new European markets, creating a pan-European product that expats can take with them from country to country, making it easy to adjust their cover.

Feather was founded in 2018 by Rob Schumacher and Vincent Audoire during Entrepreneur First’s first Berlin cohort. After struggling to navigate Germany’s insurance system, the founders decided to create a bespoke platform tailored to expats’ needs.

The startup offers a purpose-built and modular full-stack tech platform, partnering with leading insurance companies to combine tech agility with established insurers’ reliability. Feather has already helped over 50,000 expats from 150 countries get insurance digitally.

Feather serves expats in Germany, France, and Spain, with plans to launch in three more countries by the end of 2024. The company’s mission is to become the trusted, digital insurance platform for expats across Europe.
