The 3rd edition of Insurance Meets Tech (IMT) conference is set to explore collaborations between insurance service providers and promoters of insurtech in the country. Scheduled for September 27, 2024, in Lagos, Nigeria, the event, organized by Modion Communications, aims to redefine and establish collaborations between insurance and insurtech promoters. The conference intends to engage new markets dominated by tech-savvy young Nigerians, specifically the Gen Zs and Millennials, by leveraging subculture and creativity to spur growth and innovation.

Previous editions focused on themes such as leveraging insurtech for customer acquisition and unlocking policy and tech bottlenecks. This year’s event promises a disruptive approach with the aim of extending insurance’s reach and efficiency through partnerships and the latest technologies. The event will consist of two parts: the Collaborative Showcase, bringing together industry experts and showcasing products, and the Insurance Meets Tech Redefined, focusing on engaging Millennials and Gen Z through interactive sessions and games.

Precious Ubah, the project director, highlighted the diverse line-up of speakers from various sectors such as finance, health, technology, and entertainment, aiming to redefine insurance perception and provide a unique experience for attendees. Odion Aleobua, the IMT convener, emphasized the need for strategic market focus on young people to increase insurance penetration and bridge the gap between insurance and its target consumers, especially the youth.

With past editions featuring notable brands and industry players, this year’s event aims to drive greater engagement, particularly from the youth, to change the negative perception about insurance among young people. By hosting the event on two simultaneous stages with regulators, investors, celebrities, and tech innovators, the organizers seek to build meaningful partnerships and inspire a broader adoption of insurance as a lifestyle protection tool.
